Day 359, Prague, Czech Republic
Four days is Prague isn’t enough, but it’s a good start. As you may have gathered by now, we love museums. But with just different interests in our family, it’s often difficult to agree on just one. After some research and convincing, the group agreed on the National Technical Museum. The mix of content intrigued us. There was a mining floor, a huge section on airplanes, cars and motorcycles, astronomy, and photography. A little something for everyone. We walked through the Old Town toward the museum. Next we walked through a big park that was at a much higher elevation. There was a large set of stairs and we got a beautiful view of the city from a loftier point of view. Love urban parks. Since we couldn’t read the descriptions, the museum had only enough content for a couple of hours, but that was just the right amount for everyone. At this museum there wasn’t an overall rule allowing or banning photography, you pay an extra fee to take photos. Actually it’s even a bit more complicated than that. In some areas you can take photos and in others you need to have paid extra to get a sticker that would allow you to take them. It was a little confusing at first, but after being harshly reprimanded by the photo-policewoman, we got the gist of it. After the museum we walked back through the old town. The buildings are lovely and varied, especially close to the old square. The girls bought a couple of Praguey doodads and had some ice cream. We sat and watched all the crazy tourism go by, of which, we were contributors. People from all over the world, represent. We decided to do a home cooked pasta meal for our last night. Sometimes you just want a sure thing, and the only way to get that when traveling, is to make it yourself. Paul and Kier went to the grocery store and brought lots of yummy fresh ingredients. We cooked, talked, planned without other distractions. Really, it’s my favorite part of traveling with the girls. It was a perfect, relaxed evening. Tomorrow we head to Germany.
