Parasites Away and the Troll Family

Family Travel Costa Rica

Day 31

The overcast morning made it perfect for a walk on the beach.

Then we went swimming and the sun came out. We were in the pool enjoying the only shade available, which was under one of the three footbridges that go over the pools. Cali said we looked like a family of trolls.

In the afternoon Kier and I rode the bikes to a Colombian restaurant to get papa rellenas, a stuffed potato she used to eat daily in Madrid. She was so excited. I’d never had them before. These were stuffed with rice and chicken and wrapped in a potato dough and fried. What’s not to like. They were very filling, huge, and less than $2. We’ll have these again.

Next we rode to the bike shop to get my handlebars fixed and rode by a fresh fruit market and butcher. Both a good find.

We also visited pharmacist Sofia. One of the girls was having parasite like cramps. We described where the pain was, when it came in relation to eating. She knew exactly what to prescribe. These pharmacists know what ails the tummy, I bet it’s their bread and butter. She gave us one type of pill to kill the parasites, one probiotic for the stomach, one pill for stomach cramping and pain. Done and done. In and out for under twenty bucks. I do like how smaller maladies can be dealt with inexpensively here.

In the evening we went to see Terminator. This time the line was long and slow. We got in our seats just as the movie was starting. The sweet and salty swirl popcorn was as good as we remembered it to be.
