Costa Rica was the first country on our world trip. All we had was a one way ticket to San José and an Airbnb booked on the beach for the first week. What a fantastic country. We ended up staying for three months. The first month we drove the entire country, we wanted to see everything. We went south on the Pacific side, then over the mountains to the Atlantic coast. We crossed over into Panama to see Bocas del Toro, then completed the circle up along the Pacific coast. We rented a condo for the next two months in the beach town of Jaco, enrolled Cali in the local school, learned to surf. Madi started volunteering, we hooked into a local church and were never short on invitations to connect with people. Madi went back the next summer to volunteer at the Toucan Rescue Ranch for a month. Everything about those three months in Costa Rica felt so right and we would absolutely return.
