Sundays are for Gardening & Meandering

Family Travel Guatemala

Sundays are beautiful, not much gong on. The girls slept in because we got home late. The younger two played upstairs in some alternate universe they created. Kier was out for most of the day with friends. I understand why she likes it here. They walk down to the lake, hang out on the beach for a while, then walk up the street, buy some earring, get an ice cream, watch a soccer game in a restaurant, walk around some more. It’s a great place for relaxed meandering.

I spent the afternoon in the backyard, cleaning up, shoveling sand all over the place, planted Mia’s plants. I worked on that all afternoon, it was lovely. The ground is very grainy, I hope the plants will live. There is something about gardening that is very therapeutic. During my childhood I understand why half of our yard was a garden and the other half was full of fruit trees. My mom would be out there constantly, working in the dirt. Something relaxing about that.

Church was full, the energy was high.

After church, some of us went to have dessert and drinks. I had a very strong coffee. What was I thinking? As a result I was up until 4 a.m., staring at the mosquito netting, thinking of gardening.
