My friend who was caring for an elderly gringo woman, told me that the older woman died today. I met her the day before yesterday, so I was a bit surprised. She didn’t seem that sick. My friend was helping with the arrangements. The body has to be taken all the way to the city since there are no cremation facilities here. so it was an emotional day for my friend. It also means she is out of a job since she was caring for this woman.
The patio guy was supposed to come this morning. When he didn’t show up I called the guy who is coordinating that for us. He said the guy that was scheduled to do it can’t because something came up. Then 20 minutes later he called and said another guy who has worked for him in the past came to him asking for work, does good work, so he was sending him over. Great, something is happening! The guy came over and worked from noon to 6pm. The only catch with having a worker here is that you have to stay at home during that time. But I’m excited to get the back done.
In the evening we had an invitation to a small dinner. I could only take Kier because it was rather late in the evening. It was good conversation, great group of people. There was a woman from the Dominican Republic and a retired guy from the states. A large feast of fish was prepared. The rest of us brought all sorts of food to add to the fish. It was delicious. Perhaps a bit too much wine was consumed. Just saying it’s possible. Always enjoy the conversation that happens with people from all around the world. Conversation is always lively, sometimes heated. My favorite.
Kier was learning silks, and having a great time.
After that we walked over to Chapis, the disco (they still use that word here). One people I was with knew the band playing and another guy was also dancing later. The dancer was wearing a crazy sparkly dress and he danced to a Madonna song, lots of make-up, discoball lights. He has many fans, even in a small town like Pana.
