Mia, her daughter, and Kier arrived around 2:00 in the morning. I love reunions at any hour. Kier had a great week in Honduras. I’m excited to hear more about it later.
Got a call from Cali at 6:10 am wondering when I would come to pick her up. She wasn’t in any rush, but just wondered. So I woke Kier up, she had 3 1/2 hours of sleep. But she wanted to tell me how the whole trip went. Spent a lot of time talking to the translators from Honduras. She did keep a journal while she was there. We didn’t have enough time to talk.
Earthquake, tremor at breakfast, long and steady. There was a table of young tourists sitting next to us and they were a bit freaked out.
Then we worked at a paka (second-hand clothing sale) in the morning at The Porch. We were selling lots and lots of clothes. People were leaving with boxes and bags of clothes. I was working at the door to control the number of people that were inside and to make sure people had paid for the clothes before they left. My sister also came to help. Kier and Cali ended up getting some nice things for $1.30 each item. It was a fun morning.
Then we went out for breakfast with my friend. After the breakfast, we went to help pack up the paka but they were done. They brought in pizzas to feed everyone who had helped with the sale. The money raised is going toward finishing a house this particular organization is funding to build for a family. They raised about $400 which will almost pay for half of the roof. Next week we are having another one and will hopefully raise as much or more.
After the paka Mia took the younger two girls to the market. Took my bag to of stuff to my friend’s house. We came to our house so she could have a hot shower, because her gas is off. We watched a movie, then went to church. A woman was selling lasagna after the service.
Beetle mating season has arrived. You probably didn’t know that. When we were walking home one flew in Madi’s hair and she was spazzing around trying to get it out. I asked her why she was doing that, when one flew in my ear. Then I understood why.
After the church services end next door to our house, we now have someone in the neighborhood who practices the xylophone. We all agreed we prefer that to the trumpet practicing. Everything is so open here, it’s like being in the same room with the person playing the instrument. Cali asked if I could make it stop, but I cannot.
