Today I reaquainted Paul with our cute little town. After being without a lot of adult company for over two months, it was incredibly fun to be able to have adult conversation for a whole day. I walked Paul down to the lake so he could go running, then got Cali ready for school. We walked Madi up to the school because she had to print off some of her assignments, while Kier, Paul and I went down for a coffee. Lots of people we know came and said hi to Paul. Then Kier walked back up to school in time for Spanish class.
We checked out the gym because Paul’s going to get a monthly membership. It’s a nice facility, I was surprised how much equipment they have. They also have aerobics there every day, some of the women have said I should join, but I think the walking is enough for me. Next we walked up to the bank to see if Paul’s card worked in my cash machine, because it wasn’t working in others we’d tried. It did work. My cash machine rocks.
Next we went for my favorite tipico breakfast and sat and talked for a bit. I showed him the different supermarkets, my favorite place to get chocolate croissants, we looked at all the stores that stock foreign wines, looked for wine glasses. Tried to renew my internet, but they said it wasn’t due until tomorrow afternoon and to come back. They just wouldn’t do it early. We also bought Paul a phone, because they are about $14 dollars here and worth having another one while he’s here.
We dropped off pretzels at the school for Madi and hair elastics for Kier. We bought more stuff for the house and a present for the boy at Cali’s school who is having a birthday. We walked the present up to Cali’s school and stopped by the market. Then we looked at a couple of bike shops to see if there were any used bikes to buy for Paul. We found one, but they guy wasn’t in his shop. We went to the Porch for a drink and I had a salad. There was a band practicing there, our own little concert.
After that I went back up to the place that had the used bike, but the guy was having an exorcism thing performed on him right there in the store by a lady in a pink dress and big bible. I waited for about 15 minutes, but didn’t know how long that was going to go on. I eventually left. We picked up some groceries and headed home. On the way Cali passed in her tuk tuk going from school to the family’s house, all smiles. When Kier and Madi got home, Kier told me my sister has been trying to get in touch with me because she is coming, tomorrow! I love my spontaneous family. When someone decides to do something, they just do it. So I got online and got her flight information and set out to find her a shuttle.
We walked Madi and Kier up to their trapeze and silks practice, since there was no one at the shuttle office. While we were standing outside the trapeze place, the shuttle owner went by on his scooter. We tried to wave him down, but he smiled, waved back and drove on. We eventually went back to his office and booked the shuttle for Mia. This time I gave them a sign with Mia’s name on it. Hopefully the guy will hold it up and they can connect a bit more smoothly than what happened with Paul.
Fresh homemade tamales.
We scooped Cali from the family’s house on the way home and picked up some more groceries at PanaSuper. Cali was tired, so we got her to bed by the time music began at the church next door. Madi had a lot of homework, so she stayed home.
Kier, Paul, and I went to Solomon’s Porch because the band was playing for an hour or so for the group that is down working here. We had a great supper there. Kier saw a couple of her friends, who were playing pool. They ended up hanging out and watching a movie together.
Cali’s frog blog: Today I had lots and lots of fun. Today at school the little kids in the smallest grade learned how to burn garbage. Lots of people burn their garage here, so it’s a good lesson for them to learn. One of the boys in my class had a birthday. I thought we would have a pinata, but all that happened was that we gave him presents and then we had ice cream cake. My mom and dad stopped by to drop off a present for him, so everyone got to see my dad. At the family’s house we started by making tortillas and then we did a lot of coloring. I don’t have very much time to write my blog because I went to bed very late and today mom says I have to go to bed on time. P.S. I love you all very much.
