School is Not a Bar and Costume Whip-Ups

After the girls went to school I went to work on costumes for the musical. We went through each scene to see what we will need. The women here are creative and resourceful. They are pro at finding second-hand clothes and altering them or whipping up clothes from scratch. Extremely creative bunch of women. But sometimes they would show me a piece of clothing and asked if I could duplicate that. I can make a quilt or any complex costume with a pattern. But no, I cannot whip that up with just my eyeballs, my brain, and a sewing machine that I don’t have. I went with the no sewing machine excuse.

The kids get ready for a school assembly by bringing their desks into the common area.

Then I went home to meet the guy who fixed the leaky sink upstairs. That was the afternoon.

Cali and I went to pick up laundry, got the girls, got a couple of movies, went home and watched them. We watched some of the Olympics’ opening ceremony. All that Canadian history as theatre, awesome. Looks cold, because it is cold! Kier went to watch a movie with her friends and did a sleepover.  That was the evening.

Cali’s frog blog: Today I had lots and lot of fun. At schoool we set up the class and made chains out of paper. Then we hung them up in baneries to decorate the walls in our room. We were decorating because Valentine’s Day is very close. Then we worked in science. We are still talking about how the brain controls our body. Then we had another class, but I’m not exactly sure what it’s called or what we studied. So I can’t really help you on that one. Then we went outside for a special reason. Every single person took the card they had to make earlier and we exchanged cards. My person was Luis Perez. This way everyone got a card and gave a card. I got a beautiful card made by a older girl. It was beautiful. I got very lucky on that one. Then we went inside to get our lunches. Then we went outisiide and ate, this was a special day so we all ate outside together. These were our Valentine’s Day celebration. Then we went inside and had Art. We did nothing in Art. Art should really be called, “Do whatever you want.” Then we had English. We were told to make a picture. I made a picture of a wine bottle and a glass of wine.

When the teacher saw my picture she said, “This is a school not a restaurant or a bar.” I had to start my picture over of something that couldn’t be found in a bar. I thought that whole thing was kind of weird. Don’t you think that was weird? I think in France of Canada they would like not minded my picture so much. So I had to start over and I drew grass with a flower, and that was ok with my teacher. Then we went home. When we got home we walked to pick up our laundry, and we picked up my sisters at school. They wanted to rent a movie at Solomon’s Porch, so we all walked back and did that. Mom bought me three Topolinos (popsicles). Then we watched the movies at home and I went to bed. It was a great day. P.S. I love you all very much.
