I thought Cali was in the clear, but at 1:30 am last night she woke me up because her stomach hurt again. I gave her a Dramamine, so she could sleep through the night. After that I couldn’t get to sleep for many hours. The dogs and roosters were partying it up until about 3 a.m., and then, it all miraculously stopped. Silence. Even the crickets were silent. The only sound was Cali occasionally banging her head against the bucket that she insisted on sleeping next to. I wonder if silence happens every night between 3 and 4 a.m. At about 5 a.m. the other tag team of roosters were waking up the dogs and the cycle begins anew.
Cali spent a lot of time in the bathroom, she wasn’t in any shape to go to school. Our Spanish teacher lives around the corner, so she and Madi walked up to school together. Cali was on the couch the entire day with the exception of walking with me up to the school to get Madi. Staying in all day makes me a bit stircrazy! There is such an interesting (not to mention warm) world out there that I had to forego for a whole day. I hope she is feeling better tomorrow, for her sake of course.
Cali’s day: Today I had lots and lots of fun except for the part where I was sick again all day. Blahhhhh. I watched tv, then watched some more, then read a bit. We picked Madi up at school even though I whined the whole time. On the way home we got ice cream. We called Grandma and Grandpa to say we love them. Only Grandma was home, so we could only tell her we love her. We are going to have something for supper that won’t hurt my stomach and then I’m going to go to bed early. P.S. I love you all very much, even when I’m sick.
Madi’s day: Today for breakfast I had two of the bananas that we bought at the market. They are the sweetest yummiest bananas I have EVER had! Then I went to school. I had Spanish all by myself with my teacher since mom was with Cali. Well, actually there were two dogs with us, Chichi and Kiki. During Language Arts my classmates and I talked about whether or not you can drown a fish. It was a funny (and very important) conversation. During Literature the one guy talked about not having enough toilet paper. He changed the saying from “If I had a million dollars I could buy your love” to “If I had a millions rolls of toilet paper the world would be a healthier place, because I’d give one to each of the politicians so they could spend more time worrying about the world than not having toilet paper.” In my lunch today I had pretzels, two large cucumbers cut up with a lime to squeeze over them, turkey sandwich, pringles, apple juice. For Advanced Spanish class the other group went to Solomon’s Porch to watch a movie, so I was an only student for an hour. On the walk home from school we got Saritas ice cream. We saw our Spanish teacher riding her bike down the road with four dogs trailing her. She looked like the pied-piper. While we were talking, one of her dogs ran ahead and started to pick a fight with another street dog. They got into a big fight. Then her other three dogs ran to defend him. They eventually chased off the other dog. When we got home I did my homework. I wrote an introductory paragraph comparing how many people you normally see on bicycles in Canada and then in Guatemala. It’s pretty funny. I had supper and went to bed.
