So many famous neighborhoods, so little time! We decided to go St. Germain and soak up some artsy, intellectual vibes, since you can never have too many of those. This was the popular gathering place for intellectuals in the 17th c, and again after World War II when actors, poets, artists, philosophers, and musicians gathered in these streets. This was an important literary location as many writers who congregated in the cafes and lived in the area then wrote about this unique district. Publishers followed and established in the area, probably to be close to the talent. I imagine the constant creative buzz happening around the tiny cafe tables, the music on the streets, and wish we could have seen it then. Today, with its concentration of chocolate shops, you’re more likely to trip over a chocolatier than an existentialist, but who are we to question evolution? There’s also no shortage of famous cafes, adorable alleyways, covered passageways, just a stupid amount of cuteness around every corner.
