Day 365, From Nice, France to Cabrières,France
We drove from Nice, through Southern France, Paul’s favorite part of the world. The house we stayed in for years in St.Victor-la-Coste, is no longer available. This year we rented in a new town, Cabrières, since it is central to all of our favorite places. When we stay in Southern France, we prefer a small rural setting, a tiny town with a small city square, often centered around a church. Cabrières was perfect. But what was even more perfect was the home we found through Airbnb and the SuperHost who lived in it. Here is our house in Cabrières and the church across the street.
Our parking spot across from our house. Patrick has been the only host so far who has prepared a welcome dinner for us. After being on the road for a year, we all appreciated his efforts. We ate out on his balcony, looking out over the peach and orange tiled roofs, it was amazing. Patrick was a fascinating person with so many varied experiences, we could have taken an evening to hear about each one. Getting to know people along the way, always fascinating. Never gets old. View of the rooftops from the balcony. Our favorite kind of house, especially in France, is one that combines the old stone with the modern conveniences of a nice kitchen and bathrooms. This home was the perfect combination of these. It was once two different houses, and was combined into one. The entrance looks like a wine cellar, and there are two stone staircases going down to different doors, since it used to be two homes. Here is the front door and foyer.
Other end of the room leading up to the house. Here is the backdoor.
Here are the staircases, each leading to a different door.
This custom door goes out to the patio that looks over the rooftops. Very cool step.
Dining room and kitchen area on the first floor.
Living room with comfy floor couches. Girls want to find these online and put in our new house.

Girl’s bedrooms.
This house was an exceptional choice for ten days. Felt like home for many reasons, there was lots of space for everyone to spread out, although, honestly, we usually end up in the same room. I loved all the stone and wood incorporated into the decor. Going to be a great week.
