Day 70, Summer in Asia, Houston and New Orleans

Yesterday we did an overnight in Houston, our favorite city in Texas, to visit my brother and his family. We had dinner at a fancy Portuguese restaurant and were on our way to New Orleans.

We frequently spend a night in New Orleans, since it’s on the route to and from my brother’s house. But I’d have to say it’s one of my favorite cities. It’s not Bourbon Street which is the main draw for me, but the rest of what NoLa has to offer. I’ve had a few college girlfriends reunions there, and I always enjoy the restaurants and live music in the clubs, not to mention the beignets in the morning. Few cities are as much fun as this one.

We stayed at the Dauphine Orleans, in the French Quarter, super convenient. Great location, they give you a complimentary drink in their haunted bar next door to welcome you to the neighborhood specialty, spirits with your spirits.

We spent our time in the art galleries and took a break for the famous beignets.

Then we walked through the nightlife before eating in a very civilized place, the Broussards, which used to be a mansion. There are four creole restaurants called the Grand Dames, and Brossards is one of them.

Nobody does balconies quite like this city.
