Day 127
There are certain serendipitous magical moments in life you never forget, tonight was one of them. Paul, through a friendly conversation with a total stranger, ended up talking to Dennis Crouch, Diana Krall’s drummer. He invited us to be on the band’s guest list at their next concert. Well, ok, if we must (happy squeal).
Getting to the famous Olympia venue took a little longer than we’d planned, so we grabbed some supper at the Frog Hop House. Nothing like nachos and some specialty mac and cheese to start the night off right.
When entering the venue, we were on the younger end of those attending, a most distinguished looking group. Lots of silk scarves, silver hair, fine leather shoes, expensive purses. Our ticket would have cost $260 Cnd, so they were a real gift. Many were having a pre-concert drink at the bar.
The French love their picnics, regardless of location. One of the only younger couples we saw, probably in their forties, had brought food at the Monoprix grocery. They sat on the stairs in the middle of the lobby, and ate their portable supper.
Our seats were in the orchestra, which gave us an intimate proximity to the music. The musicians were fantastically talented, Diana Krall was amazing. The concert was more than two hours long, with no break. What an evening.
