In December 2014, my Dad and 12 members of our family went to Japan for a Heritage trip. His wife, all three of his kids and one spouse, and all of his grandkids and spouses, except one, were able to go. All of his family is still in Japan and many of his grandchildren had never been to the country of their roots. It was a once in a lifetime trip for all of us. The kids got to meet all their Japanese relatives, see where Grandpa lived. We got to see Grandpa interact with his siblings, a rare experience.

We also did a heritage trip to German with my mom. She hadn’t been there in over fifty years. We did the same with her. These two trips will always live on in the memories of all of us, bringing us closer together as an extended family, and showing us our roots. Best two trips we’ve ever done.
