Guatemala has a collection of very special memories for us as a family. Between our first visit in 2007 until 2012, we lived in Panajachel in the highlands of Lake Atitlan, for a total of three years. What started as a half-year trip to show the girls a different culture and to learn some Spanish, became our home. Our youngest started preschool there and our oldest graduated from high school. We worked with three NGO’s and made a lot of friends. The experiences in Guatemala shaped each of us in significant ways.
