Day 228, Bangkok, Thailand
The two weeks in Bangkok have flown by. For our last evening, we decided to do a dinner cruise. There is no shortage of choices when picking a boat, so we settled on the biggest, The Wonderful Pearl.
There was a wonderful spread of food to choose from. There were some seriously spicy dishes, including a soup that almost burned my eyes, but I finished it just out of pride. There was also a fountain on the top deck, live performers, and traditional Thai dancers. We’d read some reviews that sometimes a Thai Elvis impersonator entertains. I don’t know if we were relieved or disappointed when that didn’t happen.
The best part was sitting on the top deck and looking at the Wats and the Great Palace in lights.
What has been interesting about Bangkok is that you see tourists from every part of the world, Australians, Chinese, Japanese, Indians, North Americans, people from the Middle East and every corner of Europe. So even while we are doing touristy things with other tourists, it’s always a fascinating mix.
